So I really really really don't enjoy doing crowdfunding fundraisers but after learning about an opportunity through Engage Globally I decided it was a good idea. Engage Globally is an organization founded by one of my most inspiring former professors. Engage now helps people undertaking grassroots community projects to set up a crowdfunding website to share with friends, family and other interested individuals who want to help make a difference in small projects around the world. For this service, Engage takes out 10% of the funds raised in order to help their own initiatives. Learning about this inspired me to go ahead with the crowdfunding option because it provides the opportunity to hopefully fund my own project while also helping an organization I care a lot about.
This being said, I am asking for help from loved ones all around the world in funding a library renovation at my school. In addition to raising funds to fix up the library building, paint the walls and build new shelves, I will also begin training a community librarian at the end of this month (March) who will become a permanent part of the school staff in order to assure sustainability of the library programs and allow it to continue developing after my service has ended.
Last year I laid the groundwork for this project by simply getting students in the library, reading and helping them find a love for reading that was never a part of their lives before. Now I, along with the school staff and larger community, are ready to commit ourselves to the sustainability of this project for years after I'm gone. If a bunch of people can donate even a small amount we can get this project funded in no time so please, skip the skinny latte tomorrow morning and throw that $5 to me!
ALSO - if you are considering a larger donation, all donations are tax deductible :)

Thank you for your constant love and support! Let's fix up this library.
